Spam phone calls, I mean. Obviously you could just not buy the stuff at the supermarket, if you don't want to eat it. It's cheap, but I'm sure if you look around you can find a good deal on a meat you prefer. But avoiding spam and scam phone calls and texts is harder. Unless you don't have a phone, I suppose. How you'd then watch AKB 48's Gingham Check on the move is beyond me, though.
In all seriousness though, while I do whatever it is I do, my friend Scott McGready (six-time winner of the imaginary Most Enthusiastically Great Person I Know Award) is busy entrepreneur-ing all over the place. Nixcall uses a database of known spam call numbers, so when you sign up for the measly lifetime sum of £5 (less than ¥850, for those of you keeping track at home) any incoming text and call to your iOS or Android phone which matches an entry from the growing-every-hour database of bad numbers will be flagged up for you, letting you know which ones to avoid – and block. Scam calls and texts are also zorked. Did I make that word up? Infer from context that this is a good thing.
And if I may, I'd also suggest you check out Oxfam Milngavie's Facebook page, and please consider making a charitable donation to Oxfam's Syria Crisis Appeal. You can help make a big difference to a very bad situation, so please keep it in mind.
